🧾 Overview

TryDis BBQ is a Hawaiian food truck based in Waikīkī, serving authentic local-style barbecue with bold flavors. Originally brought on to help design their food truck signage, I ended up supporting the team across multiple touchpoints — including building a branded website, setting up a business LinkedIn page, and creating a custom Google Form for catering inquiries.

This project focused on helping TryDis establish a professional online presence, streamline customer outreach, and build momentum as a growing food business in Hawaiʻi.

The Sweet Treat Bakery app aims to provide an easy, convenient way for Bay Area residents to order baked goods directly from the bakery, bypassing third-party apps.

This app focuses on simplifying ordering for pick-up and delivery, catering to busy individuals and families who value time-saving solutions.

No Website

No Delivery or Ordering Platform

No Formal Contact System

Lack of Brand Cohesion

🚪Opportunity

This project was a chance to bring a beloved local food truck into the digital age — starting small, but building something scalable. With Waikiki’s constant foot traffic and tourism, TryDis BBQ needed a brand and web presence that matched the quality of their food.

  • Create a Central Hub: Design a simple, mobile-first website where customers could view the menu, location, and submit catering inquiries.

  • Build Digital Infrastructure: Set up a LinkedIn and Google Form to streamline communication and help with future growth.

  • Clarify Their Brand: Introduce a clean, casual visual identity that reflected the vibe of the food truck — approachable, local, and trustworthy.

  • Lay the Groundwork for Future Tools: Make it easy for them to expand later (like adding online ordering, a schedule, or newsletter).

Sweet Treat Bakery was a project I undertook as part of my Google UX Design class. The goal was to enhance the digital experience for a local bakery by creating an intuitive and efficient app for customers.

The app was designed to simplify the ordering process, making it easy for users to browse, select, and pay for their favorite baked goods directly from the bakery.

Through this project, I aimed to address pain points like the extra costs associated with third-party apps and limited ordering options, while providing a more streamlined, user-friendly solution.

🛣️ User Journey (Simplified)

Created journey maps to identify key pain points in food truck discovery and highlight the need for better visibility, simple online ordering, and easy access to contact or catering options.

I designed a bold, typographic logo with a slight vintage edge to reflect both the southern BBQ vibe and the rich cultural roots of the islands. The brand palette uses warm, vibrant tones and clean contrast for maximum clarity and visual impact.

Created a mood board to define Sweet Treat Bakery’s visual identity, including a custom-designed logo along with thoughtfully selected colors and typography.

Each element was crafted to evoke the bakery’s warm, inviting feel while catering to the needs of modern, on-the-go users.

Designed and hosted the site using Figma Make to ensure fast load times and mobile responsiveness. I kept it scroll-friendly with one strong CTA and minimal distractions.

Helping TryDis BBQ go from nearly invisible online to discoverable and approachable was a rewarding challenge. With just a Yelp page and unused Instagram, they lacked the tools to grow or communicate clearly with customers.

By designing a simple website, optimizing their presence for search, and integrating contact forms for catering inquiries, we gave them the basics to thrive digitally.

The process showed how even small food businesses can benefit from clean branding, strategic UX, and a touch of hospitality in every click.
